The holidays are quite literally right around the corner, which means we are making lists and checking them twice. I am a big fan of shopping early (I’m actually already very close to DONE), and I also LOVE to shop online. Today I’m going to tell you about a not-so-secret I use to make a bit of extra money while I do my Christmas shopping online. So not only do I get to shop from the convenience of my home, make sure I’m sticking to my budget by avoiding the marketing-marvels of every store right now, I also get to add money to my own pocket! Hello?! What could be better? What am I talking about? Swagbucks! Today we are going to share why you should sign up for Swagbucks now, so you can make the most out of this online platform and start earning extra money right away!
Before we start, I want to say that this is NOT a sponsored post. These are my honest opinions about Swagbucks. There are a few links throughout this post so that you can sign up, and I might earn a few bucks if you do, but Swagbucks isn’t paying me to get you on board!
I will admit that I do not use Swagbucks to its full potential. There are lots of people out there who know what to do daily to make more money than I make, and I’m going to be better about exploring all the features Swagbucks has to offer.
What is Swagbucks?
Ok, so, first of all, you are probably wondering what on earth I am talking about. Swagbucks is an online survey site that offers you cash or gift cards when you complete surveys. But it is also so much more than that! You can earn money by watching videos, playing games, and using their search engine too. So basically, the things we all do online anyways. Only with Swagbucks you can cash out and get a cheque or gift cards for doing it! Win-win!
Is it legit?
I remember years ago when online surveys first became a thing. I definitely thought I was going to make retirement amounts of money by doing surveys online. In reality, I never made a dime, despite my diligence in completing surveys daily. Times have changed, though, and many online platforms will pay you to answer questions and use their sites.
Swagbucks is at the top of these sites. They have paid out over $350,000,000 in cash and free gift cards to consumers. They have an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau and are one of the top survey/cashback sites out there.
I believe that if you put in a bit of effort, you can count this as a side-hustle to bring in extra money each month. Are you working towards financial goals? Maybe building your emergency fund, paying off debt, or saving for a Disney trip next year? This is a GREAT way to add extra money to those funds from the comfort of your home.
Companies want our feedback. Swagbucks is their way of researching what works and doesn’t work in their target markets. Plus, they are willing to pay you for your thoughts and opinions! It doesn’t require skill or experience, just a little bit of time!
How it works
You sign up for Swagbucks, no credit card required, and then you can start using the different tools to make money.
You can earn SB (Swagbucks) by answering quick surveys. It doesn’t take much time, and you get paid just to give your honest opinion. I try to answer one or two a day to build up SB faster! There are daily polls and quick questions to answer that can earn you SB too. So even just a few minutes each day will start to build up your account and get you closer to free gift cards!
Just like you use google, you can use the Swagbucks search bar to search the web. I just looked up ‘mushroom soup recipe’ (a bit of meal planning while I work!) and earned 20 SB, plus got the info I was looking for. How many things do you google in a day? Imagine how much money you could be missing out on!
When you access your favourite online stores via Swagbucks, you can earn cash back based on how much you spend. For example, if you shop at Indigo, you can earn 2SB per dollar you spend, plus 2% on electronics and gift cards. So if you are looking for the perfect teacher gifts or stocking stuffers, grab your gift cards online to put money back in your pocket.
The list of shops that you can earn SB through is huge. Amazon, Walmart, Joe Fresh, Ticketmaster, Gap, Old Navy, Canadian Tire, Staples – basically anything you need, you can get while adding money to your wallet. AND, there are lots of travel sites as well – you can bet I’ll be booking through Expedia or Hotels.com for our next trip!
If you love to go down the YouTube rabbit hole of videos, I am sure you would like to earn money while you do it! You watch videos or read articles and rate them thumbs up or thumbs down and earn SB for your time. I love watching those short cooking videos that seem to be everywhere these days – why not get paid to watch them!?
You can even earn SB by playing games – what could be easier? Check out the list of games and start earning Swagbucks while you play!
I’m a forgetful person, so sometimes when I’m shopping online, I forget to check Swagbucks first. BUT, because I installed the handy swag button in my browser, any time I visit a site that is eligible for me to earn SB through, a little popup reminds me, so I never miss a deal!
Refer and Earn
Once you try it out and love it, you can refer Swagbucks to your friends and earn even more. Let your people know about it, and when they sign up, you will receive a bonus AND 10% of their earnings too. Hello, passive income!
What do I get from all this?
Once you have earned enough SB points, you can redeem them for gift cards to a massive range of places – Amazon, Indigo, Starbucks, iTunes – OR, you can get a PayPal gift card, which is basically like cash in your pocket. The really great thing is that the gift cards go on sale, so you can make your SB go even further!
Plus if you sign up for Swagbucks right now, and save up your SB for the next year, you can do all of your Christmas shopping in one spot next year!
The only drawback that I can see is that you aren’t going to make millions. If you are hoping this is a get rich quick scheme, I’m sorry to disappoint. But when you get intentional, this can be a great way to make some extra money for your family.
Plus – it’s free to join, it’s easy, and requires no experience – anyone can do it!
I will admit that I don’t work the Swagbucks system as well as I SHOULD – but if you are looking for a simple way to make some extra money, this side hustle could be for you!
Every extra dollar you bring in can be used intentionally towards your goals – paying off debt or saving for something special or paying off your mortgage.
